What about food: we love it here! And we want you to enjoy it too. We serve a variety of African specialities, alongside Western dishes such as chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella cheese and sun-dried tomatoes or roast rack of lamb in a herb crust. For the kids, we can always rustle up simpler food like pasta and pizzas.
We use almost only local produce and grow most of our own herbs and some vegetables in our organic perma-culture kitchen garden. And what about our award winning home-made chutneys and fresh mushroom soup in season. We’re always happy to show you around so you can see where it all comes from!
At Ntchisi Forest Lodge, we cook delicious home cooked meals. We use fresh herbs from our garden, make our own bread and marmelades and always try to use local seasonal products that are available in the community. Our aim is to prepare and serve tasty, fresh and nutritious food. We also cater for any dietary requirements.
The day starts with homemade muesli or cornflakes, milk, fresh fruit salad, Malawi coffee and tea. Cooked breakfast is also available with delicious home made bread, home made jams or marmelades and eggs of your choice. Full English breakfast is also available. Breakfast time is from 7 – 9.30 am.
Our food is served to make you feel at home: bowls on the table to help yourself. We serve a 3-course candlelit dinner, and the menu may include dishes such as caramelised onion tart, bruschetta with tomato and olive topping, Moroccan chicken, chickpea burgers, chicken in mustard sauce, spiced lentils, mixed salad, nutmeg zucchini salad and spiced fruit salad. Again, we cater for any dietary requirements with or without meat. It is best accompanied by one of our South African wines like Nederburg, Durbanville and Fleur du Cap. Dinner starts at 7 pm.
Breakfast and dinner is included in our rates.
