The Forest Cabin; an experience in itself
Early 2014, the idea started to grow to build a forest cabin on our properties. Besides the cosy rooms in the lodge and the campsite, we wanted to offer a real forest-experience. Tim Mahoney did the fantastic design and building plans for the cabin. With one of our local contractors who has also built some structures in the recent past like the ablution block and the Cottage where Innocent lives, a plan was set out. The building of the cabin was quite challenging; Innocent had to drive numerous times to Ntchisi and further to fetch tons of bricks, sand and other stuff. Also huge pieces of glass had to be found and carefully transported in order to realise the dream to have windows from the floor up to the ceiling. But with a good team of local workers, the cabin was eventually finished in January this year. We are really proud of this piece of art blending in with the surroundings.
What can you expect?
The Forest Cabin has two private rooms combined together with a bathroom in the middle. One of the rooms has a double bed and the other one two single beds. All of the beds have brand new 28 cm thick mattrasses awaiting for you. In the double bedroom you will also find the fireplace for cosy evenings when it gets cold up the mountain. You can also sit outside at the veranda looking out on the rainforest to the left and the lake in front of you.
The Forest Cabin is very well suited for families or for people that want to indulge themselves.
